Arleia is tough as nails and smart as a whip, yet also exceedingly naïve to the ways of the world. But what would you expect from someone who’s spent their entire life in a convent?
She even thought her life was the epitome of ideal… until her goddess exploded. The problem is, she didn’t die, and now she’s convinced that her new abilities are a curse.
EXCELLENT Based on 77 reviews Posted on charles morant Rise of the Priestess The Resin Chronicles: Born of the Gods follows a high priestess who discovers healing powers after her goddess explodes. Facing a sadistic god, she fights for freedom and self-discovery. Dark, intense, and full of magic, it’s a gripping start for fans of mythic fantasy and powerful, transformative journeys.Posted on Addison Baker Dark, intense, and weirdly hard to put down I wasn’t ready for how brutal this story gets, but once it kicked off I couldn’t stop reading. Arleia’s whole journey from sheltered priestess to someone who has to literally fight for her life is rough, but you end up really rooting for her. The world feels big and strange in a good way, and the gods are properly terrifying instead of just background decorationPosted on Antonique Gordon An adventure that opens your imagination This high priestess was definitely one of the best characters especially when she got into a battle against a god while having to fight for her freedom and self-discovery. This book portrayed a world shaped by ancient powers, hidden realms, and the fragile balance between mortality and divinity. The descriptions of people and the environment were vivid and I felt like I was a part of the story. It had me in suspense a few times and was definitely a good read.Posted on Barbara Great story, exciting adventure. If you are interested in fantasy or adventure novels, check out "Born of The Gods" by Craig Zeppelin. Forced to fight for her life, Arleia discovers the truth about the powers of her so-called curse. To survive, she must reconcile with the woman she was, with the warrior she is becoming and seize the second chance at forging her own path.Every page of this book crackles with tension and delivers on the promise of an unforgettable story.Posted on Ryan Warburton A Dark and Intriguing Fantasy Descent This novel opens with a striking premise and follows a former high priestess navigating the fallout of her goddess’s destruction and the disturbing powers she inherits. The story blends dark fantasy, divine politics, and personal awakening as Arleia is pushed far beyond the sheltered life she once knew. Readers can expect a tense, gritty journey centered on resilience, self-discovery, and defiance against oppressive gods.Posted on M.M. A journey of self-discovery in a fantasy world The protagonist, Arleia, or Arly, awakens to find her entire life blown to bits, destroyed by fire! She is amazingly able to totally hear her own body. She finds a cat in a chest-box, also totally unscathed. Plus, this is a talking cat! Arly is only used to being a high priestess for her goddess, who has also been destroyed. She searches for another god to worship, and to be a priestess to, but in her experiences, only finds corrupt and selfish gods. The cat, Jes, (formerly a human jester) offers annoying and sarcastic comments and a different perspective. She gradually begins to remember, and her question "did her goddess mean for her to have this amazing "gift" (or "curse" as she first calls it) is finally answered as she remembers more. She struggles (and literally fights) to find her own place in the world outside of her former temple and goddess, and to discover her own individuality.Posted on Things n' Stuff Epic Beginning to a New Saga Born of the Gods: Origins Book One is a fantastic start to Craig Zeppelin’s new addition to the Resin Chronicles universe. This book follows Arleia on her journey from high priestess to goddess, and it is filled with moments of struggle, discovery, and triumph. I loved how the story dives into her imprisonment and the challenges she faces, both physical and emotional, before she rises to something greater. Arleia is a powerful character, but also very human in her doubts and flaws, which made her transformation even more compelling. The world building is outstanding, with rich detail that ties beautifully back to the original trilogy while opening the door to something even bigger. The supporting cast is strong as well, adding depth and different perspectives to Arleia’s journey. If you enjoyed the Resin Chronicles, this is a must read. A sweeping and satisfying fantasy adventure.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
